How was H&H House of Hope Born Into Existence?

Driven by a profound experience at age 18, while volunteering at an orphanage in Quito, Ecuador, H&H House of Hope founder and President, Cristina Moncayo, felt a calling to serve abandoned and homeless children.

This passion was ignited when she brought home a critically ill six-month-old baby, still in a fetal position, and nursed him back to health. He blossomed into a beautiful, healthy child before being
adopted by a French family before his first birthday. That experience planted a seed that has shaped her life's work, focusing on children and young adults through church and community involvement.

After a 27-year successful career, she retired to pursue this lifelong dream. With faith as her guide, she will make a significant impact and, God willing, save many more lives.

Our leadership team is composed of passionate individuals dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of young adults. Our team members bring diverse backgrounds in education, social work, and community development, ensuring that every aspect of our program is designed with care and expertise.

What Does H&H Stand For?

Hampson & Hodges: Cristina's journey to success is a testament to the power of mentorship and belief. Two generous men, Edward Hampson and Theodore Hodges III, invested deeply in her life, shaping not only her career but also her character.

Ed opened doors for Cristina in the 1990s, a time when the engineering field was predominantly white and male. He became her guide, generously sharing his expertise and providing invaluable support to all his employees. Ted served as both mentor and friend throughout much of Cristina's career. A constant champion, he advocated for her growth, ensuring she was given opportunities to expand her horizons. He was also her biggest cheerleader in all her community endeavors.

Though Ted's passing on June 4, 2024, leaves a void, his influence and unwavering belief in Cristina's potential continue to inspire her path forward.
